WHO WE ARE

The Jaypee Debsoc is a dynamic and passionate group at JIIT-62. Our mission is to empower students by honing their communication skills, fostering critical thinking, and nurturing their passion for debate and public speaking. Our proudest achievement? Being the highest award-grossing hub at JIIT. With a vibrant community of around 40 members—from first-year students to seniors—we’re committed to more than just eloquence. We’re here to dispel the age-old “engineering student” fear of public speaking. How? By sending our members to various colleges and competitions, where they sharpen their skills and gain confidence.

The Interview Process

1. Conventional Debate Round:
   • In the first round, you’ll participate in a conventional debate. This is your chance to showcase your argumentative skills, logical thinking, and ability to articulate your thoughts. Prepare well and engage in a spirited debate with fellow applicants.
2. Group Discussion Round:
   • The second round involves a group discussion. You’ll be part of a small group discussing a specific topic or issue. Pay attention to both expressing your viewpoint and actively listening to others. Collaboration and respectful communication are key.
3. Personal Interview:
   • The final round is a personal interview. This is where we get to know you better. Be prepared to discuss your motivation for joining Debsoc, your interests, and your commitment to the art of debate. We’re interested in your passion, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

LIFE AS A MEMBER

Our weekly general meetings serve as the heartbeat of our community. Here, we come together to sharpen our skills, discuss strategy, and learn from each other. Practice rounds and casing sessions keep us on our toes, ensuring that we evolve as debaters and critical thinkers.

But life isn’t all about arguments and rebuttals. We also hang out together! Regular socials, team dinners, and our off-campus retreats strengthen our bonds. Whether it’s discussing the latest news or sharing personal anecdotes, we’re more than colleagues—we’re friends.
